Almond Valley Heritage Centre

All the family will enjoy a wonderful day out at Almond Valley Heritage Centre, situated at the heart of Scotland just outside Livingston, West Lothian.

Arniston House

Arniston House is a magnificent William Adam, Palladian style mansion house set in acres of beautiful parkland just 11 miles from Edinburgh.


Birkhill Fireclay Mine, Bo'ness

Situated in the Avon Gorge beside Birkhill Station, the Fireclay Mine is well worth a visit for all but the very young, old or infirm. The experienced guides show you the underground workings, the 300 million year old fossils and describe the life of the fireclay miners. Tours last approximately an hour and are co-ordinated with the railway timetable.

Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World

Situated in Lasswade on the outskirts of Edinburgh, this is a day our in a tropical rainforest. View many different species of butterfly and all kinds of insects and join the experts and get a chance to hold arantulas, snakes and millipedes.

Edinburgh Zoo

The zoo is the largest and one of the most exciting wildlife attraction in Scotland, committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, conservation and environmental education. In just one day, you can meet over 1,000 wonderful animals in the beautiful parkland setting on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

The Scottish Story Telling Centre

This is an award-winning public building designed by Malcolm Fraser Architects, halfway along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. The Centre includes the historic John Knox House, 99-seat Netherbow Theatre and the George Mackay Brown Library.

Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel, built by William Sinclair, grand master of the Knights Templar is situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It is very well known for featuring in the Da Vinci Code film.

The Scotch Whisky Experience

Situated on Castlehill at the top of the Royal Mile.Take a swirling, bubbling barrel ride through a replica distillery as you become part of the whisky making process.

 

The Camera Obscura
Situated on Castlehill at the top of the Royal Mile, The Camera Obscura show is a fascinating and highly amusing way to see the city and learn about its history. This unique experience has delighted and intrigued people for over 150 years. It is a 'must' on any visit to Edinburgh.

 

Gorgie City Farm
Gorgie City Farm is a child-friendly working farm on a 1 hectare site with little fields and stables, styes and poultry- and sheep-houses. They have a horse, cow, goats, sheep, pigs, hens, turkeys and ducks, also an owl and a pussy cat! A great day out for the kids in Edinburgh.

Scottish Seabird Centre

The five star award-winning Seabird Centre is set in a stunning location overlooking the islands of the Firth of Forth and the white sandy beaches of North Berwick. It's a great day out with something for everyone! In the exciting Discovery Centre - with amazing live cameras, you can zoom in for a nose to beak encounter with seabirds and marine wildlife.
