Golf - Edinburgh and The Lothians


Edinburgh Leisure

Edinburgh Leisure manage 6 courses set within the city. Based at Braid Hills, Carrick Knowe, Craigentinny, Portobello, Princes and Silverknowes, there are a range of challenges, from a beginner or child friendly 9 holes at Portobello, to the spectacular gorse covered challenge that is the 18 hole course at the Braid Hills.

 

Braid Hills Golf Centre

Situated in Edinburgh, Braid Hills is one of Scotland's premier golf facilities and includes a driving range, short game area for lessons and putting greens for practice and family putting.

 

Prestonfield Golf Club
This course sits in a spectacular location in a former deer estate at the foot of Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags and yet is less than a mile from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street and Edinburgh City Centre.

 

Carrick Knowe Golf Club
An 18 hole golf course situated 10 minutes from Edinburgh City centre located close to the world famous Edinburgh Zoo and Murrayfield International Rugby ground.

 

Turnhouse Golf Club
Turnhouse Golf Club is situated in the west of Edinburgh beside the cargo terminal of Edinburgh airport. From it's vantage point at the top of Lennie Hill, Turnhouse Golf Course offers stunning 360 degree views, and on a clear day you can see the mountains of the Scottish Highlands to the North, the River Forth to the East, the Pentland Hills to the South and the old coal bings of Broxburn to the West.

Craigmillar Park Golf Club
Situated in Edinburgh, near the Royal Observatory on Blackford Hill, Craigmillar Park Golf Club is a parkland course with panoramic views over the city of Edinburgh, to East Lothian and north towards central Fife and the Perthshire Hills.

Liberton Golf Club
Liberton Golf Club is a rolling, parkland course in the south east of Edinburgh. The fairways are tight and the greens are relatively small but well guarded, so they can offer an enjoyable and testing round of golf for all levels of golfer.

 

Murrayfield Golf Club

Set around Corstorphine Hill, Murrayfield Golf Club is only 5 minutes from Edinburgh City Centre. The 18 hole course is a parkland/heathland layout and offers golfers of all abilities a fair test of golf whilst enjoying the magnificent views over Edinburgh, East Lothian & Fife.


Kingsnowe Golf Club

Situated to the west of Edinburgh, Kingsknowe golf club is within easy reach of all Scotland via the Edinburgh City Bypass. Originally designed by Alec Herd, the 1902 Open champion, the course was later redesigned by James Braid.


Duddingston Golf Club
This is regarded as one of the most outstanding parkland courses in the Lothians. Established in 1895 the course has a rich history and is known for its challenging design and sweeping fairways. Set in delightful surroundings, the Braid Burn is a key feature which meanders throughout the course, always sitting in wait to grab that errant shot.

 

Mortonhall Golf Course
Founded in 1892, Mortonhall is the oldest course in the City of Edinburgh over which golf is still played and is regarded as one of Scotland’s premier clubs. With its immaculate greens and fairways, lined with mature trees and whin-covered outcrops the course is a superb championship test of 6530 yards, boasting unrivalled scenic views across Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth and the Pentland Hills.

 

Castle Park Golf Club
Situated in East Lothian, Scotland, Castle Park is an eighteen hole parkland golf course nestled amongst the mature woodlands of the Yester Estate with the Lammermuir Hills providing the backdrop to the South. 

 

Craigielaw Golf Club
Craigielaw Golf Club is located on the south east coast of Scotland, only 30 minutes from Edinburgh. A Championship links course designed by Donald Steel. 

 

Dunbar Golf Club
Laid out in 1857 and redesigned by Old Tom Morris around 1894, Dunbar East Links is situated on the estuary of the Firth of Forth is a breathtaking layout of a Championship links. 

 

Gifford Golf Club
This is a beautiful 9 hole course, situated on the edge of the historic East Lothian village of Gifford, only 30 minutes from Edinburgh. Set in rolling parkland, with the Lammermuir Hills as a scenic back-drop, the course is rewarding for both novices and low handicappers.  

 

Glen Golf Club
This North Berwick East Links course enjoys superb views across the Firth of Forth and provides an enjoyable test of golf for all levels of player. 

 

Gullane Golf Club
Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland offers championship quality links golf courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. 

 

Haddington Golf Club
Haddington Golf Club is a long established parkland course incorporated within the boundaries of a former country estate. The course is set in peaceful walled surroundings with the River Tyne on its North Boundary. The course, set in 130 acres, contains many natural features as well as much indigenous wildlife and offers a challenge to golfers of all categories.

Longniddry Golf Club
Formed in 1921, Longniddry Golf Club is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, 18 miles east of Edinburgh.

 

Luffness New Golf Club
Situated in the heart of the renowned golfing country on the East Lothian coastline, Luffness New golf course  was founded in 1894 and designed by Old Tom Morris.

 

Muirfield Golf Course
One of the oldest clubs in golf with a world famous course. Muirfield is a renowned host to major championships amateur and professional, international and national, men and ladies.

 

Musselburgh Golf Club
Musselburgh is a top class championship course designed by James Braid in 1938. The length from the championship tees is a testing 6725 yards and with a par 71, SSS 72 it is a quality test of golf. Built round a bend of the river Esk, it has relatively flat tree-lined yet generous fairways. The Craigie burn meanders over some fairways giving golfers the option of laying up short or going for the green.

North Berwick Golf Club
The West Links offers a unique golfing experience, and poses a true challenge for even the most proficient golfer. It is a true links course – steeped in history – and complete with traditional revetted bunkers, blind holes, drives over walls and burns together with magnificent views towards the sea.

Royal Musselburgh Golf Club

Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is at the start of the famous stretch of golf courses on the East Lothian coast, situated to the east of Musselburgh on the B1361, this picturesque parkland course is certainly worth the visit.

 

Whitekirk Golf & Country Club
Situated in the heart of East Lothian, Whitekirk Golf & Country Club is a great place for all to relax and enjoy a game of golf on the challenging 18 hole course.

 

Winterfield Golf Course
Situated in Dunbar, this club was founded in 1935.
