Castles - Perthshire

Ashintully Castle
Situated near Kirkmichael, this hotel is said to be haunted by many ghosts.

Balvaird Castle
A late 15th century tower, which can be viewed from the outside only.

Blair Castle
Blair Castle has a long and illustrious history, throughout which it has accumulated many fascinating historical artefacts.

Burleigh Castle
Situated near Milnathort, this castle was once large and imposing.

Huntly Castle
Glorious ruin which stands on the banks of river Deveron

Dalnagar Castle
Dalnaglar Castle is set on a beautiful naturally elevated site in the heart of Glenshee, which is known locally as 'The Fairy Glen'.

Finlarig Castle
Finlarig Castle is an early 17th century castle standing on a mound on a peninsula between the River Lochay and Loch Tay.

Forter Castle
Surrounded by Glenisla's stunning scenery, Forter Castle was originally built in 1560 and enjoys a history as rich as the countryside in which it sits.

Huntingtower Castle
Once known as The House of Ruthven, Huntingtower Castle comprises two fine and complete tower houses. The hall of the eastern tower has a fine painted ceiling.

Loch Leven Castle
This late 14th or early 15th century tower was the setting for the most traumatic year in the life of Mary Queen of Scots.

Murthly Castle
Murthly Estate lies in the historic heart of Perthshire in Scotland, just a few miles from Dunkeld. A traditional working estate, it is sheltered on the west side by Birnam Hill and overlooks the mighty River Tay.

Fingask Castle
The trees, the topiary, the numerous statues, the magnificent views, the holy well, the great lawns around the castle all combine to provide a secluded country atmosphere.
