Recently we ran a photo competition with The Town House Collection, a group of luxury boutique hotels in Scotland, in search of the best Scottish experiences caught on camera!
We had over 1200 entries to the competition, some funny, some which told a story and some which simply captured the magnificent beauty of Scotland.
The public were asked to vote on the Town House Collection website for their favourite photo of Scotland.
We are delighted to announce the winner of the competition is Martin Mckay from Glasgow who submitted the photo 'A Bonnie Connie'
'A Bonnie Connie'
Late August 2009. Walking on the chuckie beaches of Loch Fyne with our two dogs Connie and Tubbs. Connie loves stones that much she could shift a whole beach in an hour flat. It's when you realise that you've spent an hour watching a dog catch stones in the air that you wonder why anyone would need anything else in the world'.
Congratulations to Martin who has won a luxury seven night break with The Town House Collection, plus an itinerary of Scottish Experiences including tickets to Edinburgh Castle, golf at Craigielaw and a guided tour with Wilderness Scotland.
"This photography competition just shows how many incredible experiences you can have in this one country. I don't think of travelling in Scotland as a series of individual days out. I think it's more like this competition was - a vast gallery of memories that all build up to one fantastic experience of Scotland. Looking through the other entries, from cities to castles, I'm delighted that I won with a simple picture of our dogs, Connie and Tubs, on the beaches of Loch Fyne. I think it shows how much people appreciate the simple things in life, because it's the simple things that make Scotland such a brilliant place not only to live in, but to visit too!" Martin Mckay
The Runners Up!
Brian Girdwood -Winters Day in the Pentlands
'I took this whilst walking early one morning in the Pentlands. Looking across the reservoir to Castlelaw hill'.
Steven Kelly - Beinn Doran, West Highland Way
'This is one of the first scenes one sees as they enter the West Highland Way of Scotland, coming from Killin direction. It's true what they say about first impressions and this breathtaking scene acts as a suitable introduction to the sheer beauty of what's has yet to come during a journey through Scotland's monumental Highlands'.
RosieB - Scotlands Rare Red Gem
'This was my first encounter with a red squirrel. A magical experience'!
Stuart Guerin - Dunnottar Castle
'Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven is like something out of a fairytale. This spectacular ruined castle on the east coast of Scotland has a history as sinister as the cliffs on which it stands'.
KTHUNTER - My Cousin Kirsty's Wedding
My cousin Kirsty and her husband Russell were married in May 2008 in the beautiful Mull of Kintyre. The venue and weather were beautiful, it was a fantastic weekend.
